“There is no substitute for the actual “sights, sounds, and smells” of intriguing places and people in the world. My trip was a truly unique glimpse into life in Nepal and met or exceeded my expectations on every level.”

We had an absolutely wonderful trip to Nepal! It exceeded our expectations in every possible way… from the lodging to the professionalism of the guides. I can’t thank you enough for coordinating and arranging such a great vacation for us. We’ve traveled extensively with numerous travel companies. The pre-trip materials that Grand Asian Journeys provided were by far the best materials we’ve ever received prior to a trip. They were thorough, concise and well-presented. Everything was perfect from beginning to end! I wouldn’t change a thing about the pre-trip planning, the trip itself, hotels, restaurants, guides… anything!

” I can’t speak highly enough of traveling with Grand Asian Journeys. I recently went on a cuisine trip to South India led by Pam Perry. It was one of the best trips of my life, and may I say the best food I’ve eaten in my life! The professionalism, flexibility, and just plain fun of the leader Pam Perry made the trip very special. I look forward to going to North India with GAJ next year. I would recommend Grand Asian Journeys to anyone who wants a tailored small group travel experience.

“It was indeed a trip of a lifetime and we were very satisfied and fulfilled by the experience and the service that Grand Asian Journeys provided. For me, as a geologist and mountaineer, to trek and climb in the “company of the giants” in the Himalalya was both a personal and professional opportunity of a lifetime and the experience exceeded my expectations. First and foremost, the guides and their staff took very good care of us and they were eager to help in any way and under any circumstance. The food and lodging during our Nepal trek exceeded my expectations. Also, didn’t expect to receive three hot meals a day and the overall quality of the food was better than I expected it to be. I thought for sure at least one of us at some point in the trek would have some sort of serious gastro-intestinal track illness but none of us did (just minor discomfort).
Also, both Cydney and I enjoyed having traditional dinner at your family’s house and meeting other trekkers and your family members. You did an outstanding job of making sure we were taken good care of during our entire time in Bhutan and Nepal.”

It feels satisfying to have done the hard work of getting to Singla, a two day hike for our group, plus moving rock and weaving wire which were our main two contributions towards rebuilding Khamana and Uirni’s homes. I appreciate tangible work where you can see the progress. Rock by rock I think we did make a difference. But working side by side with the Nepalese builders and living among the villagers was the best part of the Rebuilding Singla trip. The Nepalese builders and trek staff were patient, kind and good teachers for us. Their sense of humor was infectious! I am glad that we could support in a small way, employing Nepalese in their rebuilding efforts and giving the villagers some “food for thought” regarding the foreigners who came a long way to move rock and weave wire! It was an honor to be in Singla and do this small service.

Just trekked to basecamp Mt. Everest with Grand Asian Journeys and had an incredible adventure! They have strong roots in Nepal organizing treks since the 1990’s. We had excellent guides and porters, and saw the best of the Himalayas. Also, we were invited to a local’s home to take a cooking class and learn about the culture. The trip was competitively priced and a great value. Can’t wait to sign up for another trek with GAJ.

There are few words in the English language to describe the grandeur and majesty of trekking in the Annapurna region or its people. Grand Asian Journeys’ staff made navigating this adventure not only comfortable but joyful. Morning brings breathtaking vistas and evenings bring new villages with their warm welcoming people. Then there’s the trek itself…nothing can truly capture the spirit-filled adventure that I had. The words that come flooding to mind, are these: well planned, cared for, inspiring, heart stopping, gratitude, kindness, new friendships, yaks, glorious children, unbridled laughter, “a little up, a little down”, nightly dancing and trip of a lifetime!

Executive Director of The Kumari Project
Jwalant Gurung was an early, consistent and generous supporter of our efforts to provide a Safe House for orphaned children in Kathmandu. He is an excellent source of information, provides resources whenever possible and helps us fundraise when there is a particularly urgent need. He is accountable, committed, and runs a great trekking company that we confidently entrust with our donors’ safety. Plus he has a huge heart. Throughout the catastrophe of the earthquakes he has been our lifeline to the kids we support, even while bringing relief to the remote villages of his staff.

We had a fabulous time in Nepal! Jwalant, Manju, Lela, Chitra, and all the porters were wonderful, and took exceptional care of us. We all appreciated seeing how you take care of your employees–that was evident in the gear they had (boots, coats, communication, etc) and their comfort in addressing any concerns. Grand Asian Journeys Seattle office was very responsive in helping us create our custom Annapurna trek, and answered all our questions promptly and completely. I would highly recommend your services to anyone looking to trek in Nepal!

If you only have one chance to trek in Nepal, The Kumari Project Annapurna Base Camp Trek is the one to do! From the first climb to the last descent, you are immersed in the majestic beauty and spirituality of Nepal. The well trained and fun-loving staff offers assistance at every turn and you experience the Himalayas in a very unique and inviting way. This wonder is seamlessly complimented by close interaction with the powerful work that the Kumari Project is doing to positively impact the lives of Nepalese orphans. This trek will transform you.

I wanted you to know exactly how much I enjoyed the trip that you put together for us! We were so impressed by your ability to change the itinerary and all the relative arrangements and that there was not even one hick-up or problem in the entire trip!
The alternative itinerary turned out to be an excellent one combining the high mountain experience with the Kathmandu rim ride. The next several days offered the best bike riding ever for me. The ride from Muktinath to Tukuche through the Lubra Valley was the most spectacular single track I had ever experienced. Not sure how I could ever top that! I know we will be back and that we will choose Grand Asian Journeys and Crystal Mountain Treks again for our next adventure!
THANK YOU so much for making this trip unforgettable!

I had a great trip once again! Mustang was so different than Everest base camp; I am happy I did the trek. Hopefully next time I will bring some friends from the states. I had the same guide and assistant guide as last year and was thrilled to have them both. I really do trust their expertise and judgment, along with their humor.
I do plan on another trip next year, hopefully Dolpa or Manaslu, otherwise it will be a cultural trip to Cambodia, etc. I will ask for Buddhi and Sunni again and hope they will be my guides as they truly are fantastic, patient, knowledgeable, dependable, like family!
I know there are many trekking companies out there but I do prefer to use a locally based company that really understands the culture, terrain, and gives back to the community. Thank you and Jwalant for another once in a life time opportunity!

Why participate in a Grand Asian Journeys tour rather than just plan your own itinerary on line? I kept asking myself that question as I prepared for the Cultural and Culinary tour to South India. Here’s the answer I discovered: they have access to guides you will never hook up with as a solo traveler. Amazing, fun, personable, entertaining, knowledgeable guides who give you a window into the life of the place which is rare and special, hit or miss when you head out on your own.
