Namaste

I am so proud to announce the launching of our new website for Grand Asian Journeys. Grand Asian Journeys is the US-based sister company to Crystal Mountain Treks, but with U.S. offices now we will be able to offer better pre- and post-trip customer service to our clients. In addition, Grand Asian Journeys will be expanding the countries that we visit in Asia, and plumping out our itineraries for our existing destinations. Where would you like to go in Asia? Your input will help us direct our new company and create itineraries that our clients will love. Thank you for taking a few minutes to drop me a quick note via email.

This month I will be traveling to Seattle to participate in the annual 3 Summits for Nepal charity climbs. Grand Asian Journeys is proud to be the official sponsor of this event, picking up the tab for all necessary administrative costs ensuring that 100% of your donation goes directly to building a new school in rural Nepal. (More details below). Your donation of any size would be greatly appreciated!

We very much appreciate your friendship, business and support as we embark on this new journey. Please forward this email to anyone you know that might be interested in traveling to any of our destinations at some point in the future.

Sincerely,
Jwalant Gurung, Chief Adventure Officer

Ultimate Everest Adventure

  Gokyo Ri

View of Everest from Gokyo Ri

Want to go to Everest Base Camp, but also want to go deeper into the culture and region? Our Ultimate Everest Adventure is the journey for you! This is a comprehensive Everest region trek that allows you to see more of everything in Khumbu: spectacular mountain vistas, Sherpa culture, high passes, and rustic valleys. This trek also provides two full days in the Kathmandu valley to experience the history and culture there. It is a challenging journey, but worth the effort to get up-close-and-personal with the ancient Khumbu region and people. On your trek towards Everest Base Camp, trek through the villages of the famous Sherpa people while being rewarded with spectacular views of giant, snow-capped mountains that rise above the clouds. After visiting Base Camp, climb Kalapathar for an up-close view of the south face of the world's highest mountain, Everest. Hike to the summit of Gokyo Ri from where you can view four of the world's tallest mountains each over 8,000 meters: Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and Makalu. From Gokyo head towards Thame, historic home of several famous mountaineers. Finally, descend to Lukla via Khumjung for your flight back to Kathmandu. We have guaranteed departures on October 4 and November 1 this year. Contact us by email to learn more about our Ultimate Everest Adventure.

The Tea Plantations in Kerala's Hill Country: Munnar

  Munnar tea garden

Munnar tea garden

Situated at the confluence of three mountains streams, Munnar is perched at 5,000 ft above sea level in the state of Kerala in southwest India. In the colonial past the British used this remarkable place as their summer resort, and it is easy to see why. The unique flora and fauna, the picturesque landscape, the music of nature and lush tea plantations as far as the eye can see make this one of India's most popular honeymoon destinations. On our December 2010 South India tour we'll stay at the famed Windermere Estate, situated in the middle of a 60-acre cardamom plantation, where the Keralan hospitality will make you feel like the don of your own luxurious palace. Wake early and take a scenic morning walk through mist-shrouded tea plantations that you've only ever dreamed about. Come experience Kerala and more of the real South India with Grand Asian Journeys.

We're building a school...
and need your help!

Grand Asian Journeys is proud to be the official sponsor for 3 Summits for Nepal, an annual charity climb in Washington State. Our founder, Jwalant Gurung, conceptualized this annual event while an MBA student at the University of Washington in 2006, and in the past four years the event has raised over $75,000. Every year a group of mountain enthusiasts climb three Washington mountains - Adams, Baker and Rainier - to raise money to build schools in remote villages of Nepal and to support orphanages. With the funds raised this year we will build a much-needed rural school in Nepal. Jwalant is also participating, and his personal goal is $3,000 and he would very much appreciate your donation of any size. To donate, go to this page on the Crooked Trails website, specify amount and include "Jwalant Gurung" in the comments section. Because of Grand Asian Journey's sponsorship, you can be assured that 100% of your donation will go directly to the school and, because of our relationship with Crooked Trails, your donation is also tax-deductible.
