Grand Asian Journeys combines the energy and wonders of two of the world’s most intriguing regions in one extraordinary adventure.
The introduction to China begins in Beijing with visits to Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the renowned Summer Palace. After wandering the magnificent Great Wall, we’ll eat a traditional Chinese lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy an evening acrobat show. From Beijing, we’ll join the ranks of the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian.
Be welcomed in Tibet with the sense of the deep connection to Buddhism interwoven throughout daily life in this vast expanse of land. The spirit of the Tibetan people resounds at the Forbidden City of Lhasa and in the Potala Palace, the ancient palace of the Dalai Lamas.
Return to China to conclude the journey in Chengdu, where you’ll see beloved pandas at the Chengdu Breeding and Research Center.
From the constantly-moving city of Beijing to the serenity of Lhasa’s star-filled sky, Magnificent China and Tibet will excite and inspire throughout these incredible lands.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 01 - Beijing
Upon arrival into Beijing International Airport, meet and transfer to hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day free at your leisure. (No meals)
Day 02 - Beijing
An exciting full day of city orientation tours to notable sites, such as Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and the Summer Palace. Savor a Chinese imperial style lunch at Family Bai Restaurant and welcome dinner at the Red Capital Club. (All meals)
Day 03 - Beijing
Visit the Lama Temple in the morning and drive to the northeast part of the city to see, depending on your fitness level, either the Mutianyu Great Wall or the Jinshanling Great Wall. Chinese lunch is at a local farm. Watch talented performers at evening acrobat show. (Breakfast and Lunch)
Day 04 - Beijing to Xian
Rise early in the morning to see the Temple of Heaven where you may find local people doing morning exercises. Continue to Houhai area for a Hutong tour with Cantonese Dim Sum lunch at Tiandi Restaurant. Transfer to airport for afternoon flight to Xian. Meet upon arrival and transfer to hotel with buffet dinner. (All meals)
Day 05 - Xian
Tour the site of the famous Terra Cotta Warriors, Shaanxi History Museum and Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Enjoy a Chinese lunch and dumpling dinner at local restaurant. Tang Dynasty Show in the evening. (All meals)
Day 06 - Xian to Lhasa
Fly to Lhasa. Free to relax, acclimatize or explore the Barkhor Square. (Breakfast)
Day 07 - Lhasa
Visit Potala Palace, the palace of the Dalai Lamas – the spiritual and administrative leaders of Tibet – for many centuries. There are a thousand rooms in this tremendous building, which is a prominent landmark. Visit the Jokhang Monastery in the afternoon, where pilgrims arrive each day to worship at one of the holiest sites for the Tibetans. Join the pilgrims on a kora (clock-wise circumambulation) of this monastery. (All Meals)
Day 08 - Lhasa
Appreciate the Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery, which are considered two of the most regarded in Lhasa. (All meals)
Day 09 - Lhasa to Gyantse
Pass Yamdrok Tsho, one of the most sacred lakes in Tibet, on the drive from Lhasa to Gyantse. The new paved highway has reduced drive time from about nine hours to less than five hours. The beautiful drive goes through the Tibetan plateau with turquoise Himalayan lakes, quaint Tibetan villages and majestic mountains in the background. (All meals)
Day 10 - Gyantse to Shigatse
Visit Kumbum Stupa - one of the largest in Tibet. Drive to Shigatse. Visit the historic Tashilunpo Monastery, which means "all fortune and happiness gathered here," in Tibet. (All meals)
Day 11 - Shigatse to Lhasa
Journey through stunning scenery on the return drive to Lhasa. (All meals)
Day 12 - Lhasa to Chengdu
Travel on a mid-morning flight along the eastern Himalayas to Chengdu. Enjoy the face-changing show in the evening. (Breakfast)
Day 13 - Chengdu
Drive to the Chengdu Breeding and Research Center. This breeding center has successfully been breeding pandas (most through artificial insemination). Continue to the Sanxingdui Museum with exhibits dating back to the 12th century. (Breakfast and Lunch)
Day 14 - Final departure
Departuer transfer to the airport. (Breakfast)

Make a copy of the photo page of your passport. If your trip involves a trek in Nepal, email or send us a passport-sized color photo. Mail a check for $500 per person for Nepal Treks or $1,000 for other journeys (non-refundable deposit), passport copy, photo and completed reservation form.

Cancelation Policy
If you cancel:
- More than 60 days prior to departure; deposit is forfeited, the remainder is refunded
- 60 to 30 days prior to departure, 50% of tour cost subject to refund
- No refunds will be provided for any unused services or cancellations made within 30 days prior to departure
