China Explorer

Beginning in Beijing and ending in Shanghai, journey through one of the world’s oldest continuous civilizations. Marvel at the more than 1,500-mile long Great Wall. Join the ranks of the Terracotta Warriors in Xian. Relax on a boat cruise down Li River, experience life in local villages, and more. The memorable adventure is 13 days/12 nights. Departures March through June, and September through December from Beijing.


Magnificent China and Tibet

The introduction to China begins in Beijing with visits to Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the renowned Summer Palace. From Beijing, we’ll join the ranks of the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian. Be welcomed in Tibet with the sense of the deep connection to Buddhism interwoven throughout daily life in this vast expanse of land. Return to China to conclude the journey in Chengdu, where you’ll see beloved pandas at the Chengdu Breeding and Research Center. This journeys is 14 days/13 nights. Departures April through June and September through December.


Highlights of China and Tibet

After exploring major sites in Beijing, including a hike along a partially reconstructed section of the Great Wall, we board a plane for our flight over the Himalayas to the Buddhist capitol of Lhasa. From Lhasa we’ll travel overland by four-wheel drive. We will visit Gyantse and Shigatse, home to Tashilhunpo, the largest functioning monastery in Tibet. From Lhasa we'll take a flight to Chengdu, China. Here, we will visit the endangered pandas at the Giant Panda Breeding and Research Center for an opportunity to see and feel the rare pandas. Group departure in October with a Western Leader.
